Sydney Shows

Today we were blessed to watch Sydney do what she loves and that is be with her horse. We took Sydney and Dusty to the horse show in Queen Creek today to test out Dusty. As some of you have heard me say- Dusty can be quite a prima donna and today that came out after a great trip to the show. She was fine until Sydney and Alice (her trainer) brought her into a warm up ring and she saw another horse and rider with a whip- the prima donna attitude surfaced and never went away. We quickly had to take Sydney and Dusty out of the lead line event and put Sydney into the walk-trot even on Sugar (another horse from the barn that came with us). Sydney thought this was fine and off she went. Into the HUGE cover ring came Sydney and Sugar- the only English rider with a sea of Western riders. She trotted as she was supposed to, she walked as she was supposed to and even backed Sugar up into the line with the other horses (something that we hadn't seen anyone else do). This is where the story changes- we didn't know that there was going to be a pattern that the riders needed to perform so Syd wasn't prepared. All of a sudden the judge goes up to Sydney and says something- the next thing we see is Sydney exiting the ring. I went down to see what had happened and found out about the pattern and Sydney didn't know what to do. Sydney told the judge she didn't know what to do and politely asked if she could be excused. The judge thanked her for being polite and excuesed her. Now I became the bumbling mom who is in tears with her child and giving words of encouragement at the same time. The words could have only come from God as I was as upset as Sydney and didn't have my mind going in the right direction. He is ever present and as we talked later with Sydney and she talked us through things, and cried again she is talking about a jumping event the next time!! We love our Equestrian!
